Art With Amy is an old-school neighborhood creative space for children of all ages. We believe in the power and beauty of the hand made. Children learn painting, construction, jewelry making and weaving. We do projects here! The most wonderful thing we have to offer is a guided journey that encourages true personal exploration, with pit stops in art history along the way. We intentionally keep our space WiFi free in the hopes that we can all grab moments of distraction-free time in an era in which all of us- even children - are being bombarded with information.
Our studio has children of all ages working together, sometimes collaborating, and sometimes working side by side. Art with Amy is my personal labor of love. It's a safe space where every day I see truly magical work being made. There's all sorts of evidence and articles out there supporting these old-fashioned ways of creating, that help children grow into problem solvers and critical thinkers who are more confident. It's also super fun!

Please note that Art with Amy is not a child care service licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care or any other state agency. All children must register for a specific class and must leave the studio upon completing the class.People are raving about us!

Our Team
Amy Solomon is the mastermind behind Art with Amy. AWA was started as a passion project around the time of the birth of my child. Working with neighborhood children around our dining room table my art classes grew each year and we are now in a light filled studio we call home on Harvard Ave. Influenced by my alternative education experiences and a desire to show that passion and fun play are where it's at! I'll be around throughout the summer along with the dynamic team of artists/ educators /magic makers I've assembled. Pretty proud of SUMMER FUN 2023! Amy's art can be seen this summer at Jane Deering Gallery in Gloucester, Hebrew College in Newton and Atlantic Gallery in Chelsea, NY.

Mihoko will be in the studio this summer for the week of July 24th 9:00-2:00 With floor sized looms! expect weaving, sewing ( by and and machine, spinning, felting and all things fiber!
Mihoko Wakabayashi is the owner of SAORI Worcester who had established the first SAORI studio in US and has been teaching SAORI Weaving since 2000. Her background is an alternative education. She studied the philosophy of one of the oldest model of alternative schools “Summerhill”, visited several alternative schools in US, attended several conferences of National Coalition of Alternative Community Schools. She worked for “Tokyo Shure” which was a pioneer alternative educational institute in Tokyo, Japan. While she was teaching weaving to kids at Tokyo Shure (she taught English and music as well), she encountered a SAORI book. She realized the philosophy of SAORI matched the education she believed in.
Mihoko Wakabayashi
Zadie
Zadie attended AWA classes and is working toward her BFA at Wheaton College.
She's passionate about all fiber arts and painting. Her free loving spirit and gentle
way make her a favorite in the many classes where she assists and teaches.
Celeste
Celeste is currently studying for a combination BFA and Master of Arts in Art Education at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
Collage, mixed media, and sewing projects are her passion. Children in the studio love Celeste! She assists and teaches various classes at the studio.
Celeste’s family was one of the original AWA families attending art class in Amy’s dining room.
