Hey! First Friday is back!
March 1st   6-8
Hang out and enjoy an eclectic collection of paintings, drawings, photos by a variety of artists from near and far. Percentage of all sales going to Brookline Food Pantry.

February break! Art for sale from First Friday @AWA, Parent/child art returns! Sundays!

Hi all,

February break is around the corner! Here's what we have planned:
All days are 9-2
Tuesday: Make a doll and a small house for your doll with furnishings, decorations and all 
Wednesday: Art with Amy explorations! An open studio day including lots of painting, drawing and building
Thursday: Sculpey! Enjoy a full day of sculpture explorations
Friday: Build! All sorts of building

Parent/child art returns!: There's been a request for Tuesday mornings 9-10 to be added. Are you interested in joining this new group? Email us :)

Sunday morning: Learn bookmaking, embroidery and more. Details/times on our web site... www.artwithamy.com ...sign on by the workshop. We've also formed a very tiny group for quiet drawing on some Sunday mornings. This one is for 8-10 year olds and their parents. Limited to 4 students per group.

Summer! Full schedule is on the web site and includes Saori Worcester weeks of weaving, building, altered books, painting, sewing and lots more. See our web site for full list or email. We have early bird pricing until April.

First Fridays! We had our very first First Friday art event last weekend. Check out some of the work that was on display at www.artwithamy.com under the First Friday art for sale tab. AWA students and artists!  Sales include a donation to Brookline Food Pantry this month.We have lots of cards including some beauties for Valentines day<3 If you'd like to see work in person please feel free to email. Lola Baltzell and Martha Chason-Sokol -Chewing-gum Heart cards by Hiromi Nizeki - Ink drawings by Amy Solomon (aka Art with Amy :) - new work by David Reed. Also on view some young Art with Amy students will be displaying and selling their work too.

All sales include a percentage to the Brookline Food Pantry.

Black and white studies after our Ansel Adams museum trip

Great Wednesday class! We made black and white paintings following up on the trip to the MFA to see Ansel Adams black and white photos. Also, had Rivers and Tides - the documentary about Andy Goldsworthy- playing throughout the class. A great comparison to Adams! Here’s a few of the studies.

We are trying to figure out ages on this one and open to suggestion. We've gotten some emails for school age parent child studio time and some for teenager studio classes too. We are open to forming an interesting grouping that will be fun all. 

Starting with ages 8-12. If you have another idea please do let us know.

Quick update! After school art, February break, weekend workshops and SUMMER!

After school art! At the moment we have space in both Tuesday and Thursday classes. We are truly a child centered program which means we allow your child to lead their own art explorations. This may mean a focus on drawing from life, building with recyclables, sewing or abstract painting. We have projects and explorations. AWA is a real art studio for kids. Sketchbooks, field trips, art history and a ton of fun. Classes run directly after school lets out until 6. Pick up available at both Pierce and Lawrence schools.

Fiber Arts Mondays  We have two spaces in our sewing, knitting, embroidery and all things fiber class meeting 3-6. Make stuffed animals, bags, bracelets and more.

February break classes! Sign on by the day Tuesday-Friday 9-2 Sewing, sculpting, painting, drawing and building!

Karly’s Saturday morning class for the younger set starts January 12 meeting 10-11:30.

Stay tuned for weekend workshops, Friday morning parent/child class returns soon and of course SUMMER! The Summer schedule is almost good to go. Classes will be held 8:30-2 and 2-6 daily with many exciting art options including dollhouse workshops, sewing, sculpting, building cities, jewelry design AND Saori Worcester returns with looms and two full fiber arts weeks! Feel free to email for info and to hold your space while we finish up details.

Also, mark your calendars! The evening of Friday February 1st we’ll be exhibiting an array of wonderful art. All for sale at affordable prices with a percent of the proceeds going to Brookline’s food pantry. Please join us for our very first First Fridays in Brookline Village!

Karly is also back January 12th with more painting drawing and building for ages 5-7.

After-school art recommences in January!

We may have some spaces available in our classic after school classes. Meeting directly after the school day we offer mixed-age classes emphasizing the joy of all things hand made. Students paint, draw, build and learn art history. We also sew, make paper and tie dye when the spirit moves us <3.  A true art school studio for children! Pick up available at Pierce and Lawrence.

Fiber fun returns for a new January set!

Talia's fiber arts class is coming back for more Monday afternoons starting in January. This group has been knitting, sewing ( both by hand and on a machine) making books, animals, pins, arm warmers and more <3. Let me know if you'd like to join on. Class meets 3-6. Pick up available at Pierce.This grouping had middle schoolers and some younger too. It was a focused quiet grouping and we are hoping for the same vibe into the new year.

December break art!

We have great December break art options this year!

Milo is back Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Dec. 26th, 27th and 28th 9-2 with all sorts of art fun. Lots of all sorts of painting, drawing and building. Sign on by the day. These days are $90.

Liana will be in the studio 2-5 for the afternoons of the 26th and 27th fresh from their urban studies program to run a building class! Make your own light up building and create a city together! These afternoons are $70 per afternoon.

The afternoon of Friday December 28th Saori Worcester will be in the studio 2-5 with both large floor looms and table top looms. Make a beautiful scarf! This afternoon is $85.

Brookline First Light! AWA fundraiser for Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh

I’m excited to see these unique artist designed jars coming back to the studio! Bidding starts at $100 for each jar and all proceeds will go to Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. Please come see them in person this Thursday November 29th during Brookline First Light! Hours 6-9. The jars will be on display in our front window at 45 Harvard Street through December 6th. Our aim is to raise funds to help the Jewish community that was affected by the terrorism in Pittsburgh and to raise awareness of the effects of hate speech. If you'd like to make a donation outright please let me know. We will be taking donations on the night of the event. And the public is invited to create their own paper bag luminaries during First Light!

Words Matter

This year as part of Brookline First Light on November 29th AWA will be offering "Words Matter" - a community art event in response to the tragedy at Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. Join us to make luminaries with messages of peace and hope in this challenging time.

Hours 6-8. Free for all ages. Eleven jars will be for sale on November 29th to support The Tree of Life synagogue.
Donations of jars & lights welcome

We'll also be exhibiting and running this same open art event on the evening of December 6th at Post-Cubicle Gallery in Kenmore Square.

New classes in October!

October classes!

After school classes have started with a roar! Lots of canvas painting and drawing! 
We have one spot on Tuesday and one on Thursday. These spots are for third graders and up. 

Fiber arts! October 15th- December 17
Meeting Mondays 3-6 Join Talia and knit, sew ( both hand and machine), felting and embroider. Two spaces left. We have mainly middle schoolers signed on for this one.

Child and their grown up art class! Fridays 9:30-10:30 October 12th- November 30th
Join Karly for a morning of art exploration! Expect lots of painting, drawing and building!

Saturday Mornings with Karly! October 6th- November 24
Ages 5-7 Join Karly for a morning of art, meditation and learning.

Two spaces available.

Art class on no school day of Monday October 8th
Open Workshop with lots of painting, drawing and building. We're meeting 9-2. I'm open to setting up the 2-5 day if there is a demand.

Open workshop on Thursday nights is back! We meet 8-9:30. Full use of studio materials. RSVP by Wednesday night to make sure we have all you need for your project/exploration.
