After-school art recommences in January!
We may have some spaces available in our classic after school classes. Meeting directly after the school day we offer mixed-age classes emphasizing the joy of all things hand made. Students paint, draw, build and learn art history. We also sew, make paper and tie dye when the spirit moves us <3. A true art school studio for children! Pick up available at Pierce and Lawrence.

Talia's fiber arts class is coming back for more Monday afternoons starting in January. This group has been knitting, sewing ( both by hand and on a machine) making books, animals, pins, arm warmers and more <3. Let me know if you'd like to join on. Class meets 3-6. Pick up available at Pierce.This grouping had middle schoolers and some younger too. It was a focused quiet grouping and we are hoping for the same vibe into the new year.

We have great December break art options this year!
Milo is back Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Dec. 26th, 27th and 28th 9-2 with all sorts of art fun. Lots of all sorts of painting, drawing and building. Sign on by the day. These days are $90.
Liana will be in the studio 2-5 for the afternoons of the 26th and 27th fresh from their urban studies program to run a building class! Make your own light up building and create a city together! These afternoons are $70 per afternoon.
The afternoon of Friday December 28th Saori Worcester will be in the studio 2-5 with both large floor looms and table top looms. Make a beautiful scarf! This afternoon is $85.
I’m excited to see these unique artist designed jars coming back to the studio! Bidding starts at $100 for each jar and all proceeds will go to Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. Please come see them in person this Thursday November 29th during Brookline First Light! Hours 6-9. The jars will be on display in our front window at 45 Harvard Street through December 6th. Our aim is to raise funds to help the Jewish community that was affected by the terrorism in Pittsburgh and to raise awareness of the effects of hate speech. If you'd like to make a donation outright please let me know. We will be taking donations on the night of the event. And the public is invited to create their own paper bag luminaries during First Light!
This year as part of Brookline First Light on November 29th AWA will be offering "Words Matter" - a community art event in response to the tragedy at Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. Join us to make luminaries with messages of peace and hope in this challenging time.
Hours 6-8. Free for all ages. Eleven jars will be for sale on November 29th to support The Tree of Life synagogue.
Donations of jars & lights welcome
We'll also be exhibiting and running this same open art event on the evening of December 6th at Post-Cubicle Gallery in Kenmore Square.

Art with Amy is super excited to present our new art offerings for the younger set taught by the ever awesome Karly! These classes will all be starting up the first week in October and running as 8 week sessions.

Mindfulness and Art workshops
ages 5-7
Using contemplative practices of art, yoga, sitting meditation and dancing as the main tools for learning children will explore all sorts of activities that will inspire curiosity of the world around them.
Students will be making biodegradable sculpture, wool felting, tool making, doll making, yoga stories, tea and story time, calm breathing and Ikebana ( meditative flower arranging).
Meeting times:
Mondays and Wednesdays 8-11 .

About Karly:
Karly Loyer is a Boston based contemplative pre-school teacher. She has her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Visual Arts, as well as Traditional Eastern Arts. Karly studied at Naropa University, a Buddhist based university, in Boulder, Colorado.

Happy New Year all! All after school classes are just about full on most days. Mondays we have space for 3rd graders and up. Tuesdays we have space for 5th graders and up. We've got some new and interesting programming we are working on. Stay tuned <3
We have a few spaces remaining in our September 4th and 5th days before school begins.
These days will be filled with collage, bookmaking, sewing, cyanotypes ( sun prints) and open workshop time!
We offer 9-2 and 2-5 options both days. On Tuesday and Wednesday 9-2 Gem and Karly will be teaching in the studio. Bring a lunch and collage, create mixed media wonders, make books and follow your artistic passion! Tuesday afternoon 2-5 Anne is back and creating magical cyanotypes! Wednesday 2-5 we wrap up our summer programming with our ever popular open workshop lead by Amy- expect lots of painting, drawing and building!

Mixed media, cyanotypes, canvas painting, slime, egg tempera experiments and dioramas! These weeks of August have been filled with amazing art made by kids of all ages! WOW!
We are super excited to announce this week's afternoon workshops! All workshops meet 2p-5p and cost $60 including all materials. We are now officially accepting payment through Venmo (@Amy-Solomon-17)!

Wednesday: Slime Lab Make all sorts of fun and glittery slime!
Thursday: Science meets fashion design! Design and create your own tshirt learning the art of cyanotypes ( sun prints) !
Friday: Alternative sculptures: Using wood, wire, toys, cardboard and unexpected materials make art!
This week our Monday class had the opportunity to experience Fujiko Nakaya's fog sculpture steps from the studio right in Brookline Village! Art and nature intermingling stirred wonderful conversations about art installations and temporary art. We picnicked nearby and were able to watch the fog change with the wind. Ahhhhhh summmer in Brookline!
